This course is intended for Girl Scout adult members planning to assist in providing training to other volunteers in their community. It is offered at a discounted rate to these members interested in becoming council trainers.
This course will train instructor candidates to teach basic-level American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED courses. In order to participate in this course you must possess a current basic-level American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED (or higher level) certification or equivalent. Upon registration it is important that you review and follow the directions on the e-mail attachment sent with your registration confirmation. This is a blended learning course consisting of online content, a skills session and classroom segments. Approximately 2 hours of online coursework must be completed BEFORE the in-person skills session begins. You must present proof of completing the online portion to be admitted to the in-person skills session - NO EXCEPTIONS. For more information please reference the attachment you will receive via e-mail when you register for this course.
The in-person skills session will last about 10 hours, including short breaks and a break for lunch. Lunch WILL NOT be provided - please bring a lunch with you or plan to quickly grab food nearby. The lunch break will be approximately 1 hour. A refrigerator and microwave will be available for your use. You are welcome to bring snacks for the breaks.
You must participate in and successfully complete all class activities, including online training, skills demonstrations and practice teaching assignments using the First Aid/CPR/AEDr.25 content to earn certification.
**If you would like your certification course sent to an email address other than the one tied to your Girl Scout membership, please contact Becky at bwilliamson@girlscoutsnca.org immediately after registering to provide the updated email address informaiton. Coursework will be sent to email address attached to your membership unless we are otherwise notified by August 27, 2026**
This class must have at least 4 participants to run. If minimum registration is not met, class will be moved to an alternate date.
