Volunteer Roles

Troop Coordinator

Mentor girls as they build confidence, create new experiences, learn new skills, and make friendships that will last a lifetime. Work with and oversee a team of volunteers to create an exciting and rewarding experience for your troop.  This position requires annual membership, background screening, and completion of all training as assigned.  Serve as the troop’s primary contact for Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama, as well as one of the signers on the troop’s bank account.

Support the Troop Coordinator by overseeing the planning and implementation of girl-led badge earning, troop level activities, events and other tasks needed to build girls of confidence.  This position requires annual membership, background screening, and completion of all assigned training.

Finance Coordinator toggle arrow

Help support the troop in their financial journey. Ensure the financial integrity of the troop by engaging the girls in goal setting and budgeting. Maintaining the troop checking account (signer), keeping accurate records, and communicating financial information with troop members, caregivers and GSNCA. This position requires annual membership, background screening, and completion of all assigned training.

Troop Cookie Manager toggle arrow

Coordinate the Girl Scout cookie program at the troop level and support the next generation of savvy business leaders! You will communicate procedures to caregivers and plan pickup dates/times for caregivers to pick up inventory. You will also schedule cookie booths, manage inventory and troop cookie money. GSNCA provides in-depth training prior to the start of the cookie program as well as support throughout cookie season. This position requires annual membership, background screening, a signed position description and completion of all training assigned.

Troop Fall Product Manager toggle arrow

You will coordinate the fall product program at the troop level. You will receive training and then guide the troop through a successful program to get the troop year off to a great start! This position requires annual membership, background screening, a signed position description and completion of all training assigned.

Troop Support Volunteer toggle arrow

Use your special skills and gain more skills! Whether by working with girls at troop meetings, coordinating snacks, chaperoning, driving girls, coordinating field trips, supervising cookie booths, or by earning a special certification, such as First Aid/CPR, Outdoor Essentials (camping), Small Watercraft, Archery, etc., you will provide extra troop support as needed.  What better way to be a part of your girls Girl Scout experience?

A service unit is a combination of troops in a single geographical area.

Service Unit Manager

Support troops by taking leadership in your geographical area. Coordinate location-based activities for the girls in your area from dances, derbies to day camp, empower girls to explore new things in your area. Certified and ready to teach outdoor skills? Share your knowledge and provide outdoor opportunities to expand Girl Scout horizons in North-Central Alabama.

Subject Matter Experts

Have a special skill? Can you create a zombie, design a wizard's cloak, spin a tale or draw a comic, teach girls to change a tire, care for pets, teach about banana DNA? The possibilities are endless! Share your special skills with the girls of North-Central Alabama.

First Aid/CPR

Certified to train others in First/Aid CPR? Share your knowledge and provide training opportunities for leaders and older girls in North-Central Alabama.

Occasional Volunteering

Council events could often use extra support from manning a check-in desk to speaking at our Annual Summit. From carpentary, to grass cutting, to small machine maintance, we could use almost any skill you have. If you just have a few hours to give we would love to hear from you.
