Ready to help your community and earn one of the highest awards in Girl Scouting? Cadettes can team up with a small group of fellow Girl Scouts or work on their own. To earn the Silver Award, you will research an issue you care about, make a plan to address it, and then take action to improve your community.
GSUSA has reimagined and updated the guidelines, proposal, and final report for Girl Scouts who wish to earn The Silver Award. GSNCA will adopt the updated guidelines and documents as of October 1st, 2023. All Silver Award projects started after October 1, 2023 must meet the updated guidelines, proposal and final report requirements in order to earn the award. Girl Scouts already working on a Silver Award project before the October 1st update will complete the process with the former set of materials (without the requirement for an approved project proposal) but are required to submit a Final Report to the council for approval when they complete the project. GSNCA will accept Final Reports for those projects already in progress before the October 1st update without requiring an approved project proposal on file through December 31st, 2023.
As of January 1st, 2024, ALL Silver Award projects will be required to have an approved project proposal on file with the council based on the new 2023 guidelines before final award approval will be given by the council. As of October 1st, 2023, an official award confirmation letter will be required by all GSNCA retail locations to allow purchase of Bronze or Silver Award pins.
