Position Title:Customer Service & Retail Specialist

Reports To:Director of Retail Operations

Classification:Non-Exempt, Part-time

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Customer Service & Retail Specialist is responsible for overseeing the operation of all retail functions of assigned retail locations and ensures that the day-to-day operations proceed efficiently and effectively.

The specialist works collaboratively with other members of the council management team to establish sales objectives, and to develop and implement annual sales. The specialist provides input to the annual marketing plans to promote and stimulate the sale of Girl Scout merchandise while meeting the needs of girls, adult members, employed staff and visitors.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Maintain merchandise for assigned location(s), including ordering approved selections and quantities and special orders, receiving, marking/tagging, inventorying, and stocking shelves.

Maintains cash and credit card accounts and all related records. Assures that all internal controls are followed.

Maintain store cash box, handle money, balance daily receipts with sales report.

Using approved scholarship forms, sell merchandise to scholarship account, prepare merchandise to be either given staff liaison for distribution or mailed to Troop Leaders.

As directed, facilitates an inventory control system, conducts periodic and annual inventories, and maintains accurate inventory controls to meet seasonal and special needs of the council's customers.

Serves as member of region team providing limited administrative support.

Ensures high quality services to all internal and external customers and presents a positive image of Girl Scouting.

Provides exceptional customer service to all callers and visitors; facilitates Girl Scout hotline serving as a central source of information and referral.

Ensures that diversity and pluralism is embraced and incorporated into the work of the council.

Carries out other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires the physical mobility to sit and walk for moderate periods of time.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Requires ability to drive during day and night hours in various weather conditions and to remote locations for mobile shops and Trading Post.

QUALIFICATION:

Associate degree in marketing or related area preferred. Equivalent work experience may be considered.

One year of retail experience preferred.

Must maintain a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance and have access to a vehicle as travel is required.

Must be available to work extended hours including evenings, weekends and occasional overnight travel as needed.
