Girl Scouts to Host West Alabama One Smart Cookie Fundraiser in December

Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama will host the West Alabama One Smart Cookie Celebration on Thursday, December 14 at 6:00 p.m. at the Historic Drish House in Tuscaloosa. This event will raise money the organization, recognize outstanding Women of Distinction in West Alabama and showcase projects and activities by local Girl Scouts.

From the welcome, to the Women of Distinction presentation, the entire celebration will be girl-led. Local Girl Scouts will host stations in STEM, cooking, Girl Scout traditions, crafts, community service projects and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit stations and earn “badges” for helping girls complete projects.

“I hope community members will come out to see what smart cookies these Girl Scouts are,” said Karen Peterlin, chief executive officer of the Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama.

“We are the organization creating—through our skill-building Girl Scout Leadership Experience—the female leadership pipeline. The go-getters, innovators, risk-takers, and leaders of tomorrow,” Peterlin said.

“We’re excited to watch local Girl Scouts interact with the impressive Women of Distinction in West Alabama who serve as role models for all girls.”

The Women of Distinction Awards pays tribute to women who have made special contributions to their community through civic, academic or professional involvement and are exemplary role models for today’s girls.
