Festival of Trees (HSV)
Please join us Saturday, December 16th for what promises to be an amazing 2017 Festival of Trees at the Huntsville Botanical Gardens. This event will take place for girl scouts of all ages from 1-4pm. During this time, the girls will take a winter hike to learn about different kinds of evergreens, which holiday plants are poisonous, and what nature items will be best to collect to create coordinating cards and wrapping paper. The girls will do all this while caroling around the gardens, learning songs and traditions from other countries, and participating in a project that will better the garden during the winter months. This part of the day will cost $20/girl and will include the GSNCA Festival of Trees patch, the 2017 gift patch, the golden star to put above the tree, a snack, and plenty of homemade items for holiday display. Please consider bringing swaps to share with girls from all over our council.
In order to earn the golden star, please bring non-perishable food items to donate to our food drive.
The Garden is offering all family members a discounted rate if they would like to stay in the garden while their scout enjoys the day. Parents will not stay with their daughter(s). This rate is $9 for adults and $6 for kids. All garden members can stay for free. Have you seen the Garden since the renovation has completed??
After the first part of the day is over at 4pm, parents will check out and if desired, get a group of families together to ride through the Galaxy of Lights starting at 5pm. You won't have to wait in the normal line. We are being escorted to the front!! Thanks HBG!! These galaxy passes will be sold separately. We are being offered a discounted rate of $15 per vehicle. So, pack as many people in your car as possible to see the show. Groups are encouraged to get into the holiday spirit and decorate a trailer or truck to ride in. Let's make some memories!
A link will be available to purchase all tickets at hsvbg.org closer to the date. Please rsvp for your troop by Friday Dec 8th to make sure your daughter gets all her patches! Can't wait!
