  • Camp Cottaquilla located between Anniston and Jacksonville with traditional, rustic lodging on hillsides lush with fern, mountain laurel, and other native plants.

Both girls and boys, Girl Scouts and non-members are invited to enjoy the fun-filled outdoor adventures at our camps.

In addition to the fun and friendships campers look forward to every year, our age-appropriate activities also engage them in practicing leadership skills.  At summer camp, girls and boys will discover their personal best and prepare for a positive future, connect with others in an increasingly diverse world, and take action to solve problems and improve their communities.

Through our unique Leadership Development Program, the words of the Girl Scout mission come to life: Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the wold a better place.

Something For Everyone

Organized camp programs are planned at all six Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama camps. The planned summer camp programs are designed to offer something for everyone with content and descriptions that appeal to girls with a wide variety of interests. Camp sessions can generally be divided into three categories: Traditional Sampler, Traditional Specialty, and Non-traditional sessions.

Traditional Camp Sampler Sessions account for 68.2% of total spaces available at all GSNCA camps. These sessions provide an opportunity to experience a variety of traditional camp activities at least once during the session. Campers in these programs enjoy daily swimming and are often allowed to choose some of the other activities they will sample during the session.

Specialty Sessions (like “Saddle Up Again” at Camp Coleman, “Wild Wild West” at Camp Trico) account for 23.1% of all spaces at GSNCA camps this summer. Specialty Sessions focus on one (or more) particular Girl Scout program activities or traditional camp activities. These sessions often relate to Girl Scout recognitions (Journeys, badges, Try-Its) and may focus on traditional camp activities like canoeing, horseback riding, or animal care. Other specialty sessions may focus on art, performance, fashion, creativity, history, science, careers or etiquette.

Non-Traditional camp sessions (like “Pamper Me” at Camp Cottaquilla, “Perfect Princess” at Camp Trico, “Be a Star” at KPC, and "Hey! You Can't Do That" at Camp Coleman) make up only about 8% of the total spaces available at GSNCA camps this summer. Non-traditional session choices have been offered since 1998 and provide an alternative camp experience for girls who may not be interested in primitive/rustic themes of traditional camp sessions.  Campers also have opportunities to experience traditional camp activities during the session.

At camp, everyone experiences healthy, outdoor activities that build courage, confidence, and character (swimming, canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, archery, riflery, rock climbing, high ropes, outdoor skills, nature, etc,) Everyone who comes to camp enjoys balanced meals with plenty of healthy choices. All campers participate in activities that offer intentional opportunities for campers to practice decision making and teamwork.
